Job Description
Assistant Professor of German Studies
Position Description:
The Department of German and Russian Studies at the College of Charleston invites applications for an Assistant Professor of German Studies beginning August 16, 2026. We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated teacher-scholar with demonstrated excellence in teaching German as a foreign language. The area of specialization is open, and the successful candidate will complement and add to our existing course offerings, including interdisciplinary courses in English.

The position is benefits-eligible and the salary is competitive. The teaching load is 3/3. Requirements for this position include a Ph.D. in the discipline by August 15, 2026 and near native proficiency in English and German.

To apply, please submit the following: (1) cover letter; (2) current CV; (3) contact information for 3 letters of recommendation; (4) writing sample; and an optional (5) teaching portfolio, which may include a statement of teaching philosophy, sample syllabi and teaching evaluations. Recommendation letters will be solicited after initial review.
